Over the last 19 years1, we’ve beaten the FTSE 100 by 110.2% and over the last 5 years2 we’ve made an average annual return of 8.2% versus the FTSE 100’s 5.1%. Outperformed our benchmark by 110.2%

Our annual investment aims are 8-10%. The FTSE 100, our benchmark, has annualised 6.1% since its inception 33 years ago4. That tells us that if we can beat the FTSE 100 over the long term, we’re going to be blessed with a reasonable rate of return.

Since beginning investing back in 19975, to the close of 2016, when comparing the total return, we outperformed the FTSE 100 by 110.2% which means over that period we’ve beaten the main UK stock index on average by 3.1% per year. Remember however that past performance is no guarantee of future performance.
